Information we collect

Account information. The email address you register with, and any name or shipping address you save to your account.

Research purchaser information. If you submit a research purchaser profile, we collect the legal organization name, organization type and website, your full name and job title or role, your business or institutional email and optional phone number, the research or business address (street, city, state, ZIP and country), a general research category, an optional description of the laboratory work, and your confirmations of purchasing authority and research use, together with the version of the terms and attestation you accepted and the time you accepted them.

Order information. The contact email for the order, the items and amounts, shipping carrier and tracking number, and the version of the Terms of Sale and research-use attestation recorded with the order.

Compliance records. When you acknowledge the research-use notice on site entry, and when you accept the research-use attestation at checkout, we record the acknowledgment together with the IP address of the request and a timestamp. We also keep internal review notes and an audit trail of compliance decisions relating to accounts and orders. We do not record your browser user-agent string for these purposes.

Procurement requests. If you request an institutional account, we collect the entity and contact details, purchaser role, research purpose, estimated volume, whether resale is contemplated, any stated downstream customer type, and your message.

Catalog updates. If you subscribe to catalog updates, we store your email address for that purpose.

Why we collect it

To process and fulfil orders and communicate with you about them; to establish and review purchaser eligibility for materials that require verification; to review orders and accounts for compliance and fraud concerns and to keep a record of those reviews; to respond to inquiries; and to maintain the recordkeeping described above.

Research purchaser information and compliance records exist so that we can tell who is purchasing a research material and on whose behalf. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Internal review signals

When an order is placed we may record internal review signals — for example, that a material requiring verification was ordered by an account without an approved research purchaser profile. These are prompts for a person to look at the order. They are visible only to us, are not published or shared, and are not a statement that anyone has done anything wrong.

Service providers

We use third-party providers to operate this site: a database, authentication and file storage provider (Supabase); a transactional email provider (Resend); a payment processor for orders placed through checkout (Tagada), which handles payment details directly — we do not store card numbers; and a hosting provider (Vercel). These providers process data on our behalf and are not authorized to use it for their own purposes.

Cookies

This site uses a small number of essential cookies: one recording that you have acknowledged the research-use notice, and one keeping you signed in if you have an account. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Data retention

Order records, research purchaser profiles, attestations, acknowledgments and compliance review records are retained for as long as necessary for our legal and recordkeeping obligations relating to the supply of research materials. You may request deletion of your account information by contacting us, subject to records we are required to retain — compliance records associated with a completed order generally cannot be deleted on request.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to the retention limits above, by emailing contact@biofunctionlabs.com. You can review and update your research purchaser profile at any time from your account. Depending on where you live, additional rights may apply under local law.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for research organizations and authorized research personnel. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date above.
